Adventure 3×Sound – Bus. Boat. Train. This special event and themed tour combines three modes of transport into an unforgettable journey of discovery through the south of Essen. Over the course of around 4 hours, you’ll experience the city’s history, industrial heritage and natural surroundings from ever-changing perspectives.
Your adventure begins either at the Essen-Steele S coach stop or at Essen Central Station – Haus der Technik. There, you’ll board the double-decker open-top bus operated by RevierTouristik GmbH and, accompanied by an experienced tour guide, travel through some of Essen’s most beautiful and historically significant neighbourhoods. You’ll discover Margarethenhöhe, one of Germany’s best-known garden cities, and travel through Hügelpark, past Villa Hügel, the former residence of the Krupp family.
At Lake Baldeney, you’ll transfer to a boat operated by the Weiße Flotte Baldeney. You’ll glide leisurely across the Ruhr region’s largest lake towards Essen-Kupferdreh – taking in views of wooded shores, sailing boats and the unique landscape. At the jetty in Kupferdreh, the journey continues on the historic Hespertalbahn: on board the museum train, you’ll experience the pure romance of rail travel on a round trip through the Hespertal valley.
To round off the tour, the open-top bus will take you comfortably back to your starting point.
