XMAS-EXPRESS – Experience Christmas by bus and boat
Join us on a peaceful and atmospheric tour of Essen – festively decorated, full of festive spirit and brimming with Christmas magic.

Your journey begins either in Essen-Steele at the bus stop (Grenoblestraße) or at the starting point at Essen Central Station – Haus der Technik bus platform, directly opposite the main station, at the entrance to the Consumer Advice Centre. Accompanied by our experienced tour guide, you’ll travel through the south of Essen, past Margarethenhöhe and Villa Hügel, to Baldeneysee.

There, you’ll board the festively decorated boat of the Weisse Flotte Baldeney. With a warm hot drink in hand, you’ll enjoy the cruise on the water whilst the city glides past in the glow of the pre-Christmas lights. Both the bus and the boat are enchanting with their festive decorations, creating an unforgettable atmosphere – cosy, atmospheric and full of Christmassy details.

After the boat trip, which lasts just under two hours, you’ll board the Christmas bus again. Your tour guide will accompany you on the rest of the journey through Werden, Bredeney and Rüttenscheid, past the Philharmonie, the Opera House and the Krupp Quarter, right to the impressive grounds of the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex – a fitting end to an extraordinary city tour.

On the way back, you can choose to get off directly at the Essen Christmas market and spend the afternoon there, or return to the starting point.
