Your journey begins on board a lovingly maintained historic vintage bus operated by the Transport History Working Group of Essener Verkehrs-AG (VHAG EVAG). You’ll be welcomed by knowledgeable bus staff and an experienced tour guide, who’ll take you on an entertaining, informative and lively journey through time in Essen.
The journey first takes you to the south of Essen, past the historic Margarethenhöhe, the imposing Villa Hügel and on to Lake Baldeney. There, you’ll change transport – and your perspective: aboard the ‘Weiße Flotte Baldeney’, you’ll glide almost silently across the water. Thanks to modern electric propulsion, you’ll enjoy a relaxed, peaceful journey where all you can hear is the gentle lapping of the lake.
After the boat trip, which lasts just under two hours, you’ll board the vintage coach again. Your tour guide will accompany you through Werden, Bredeney and Rüttenscheid, past the Philharmonie, the Opera House and the Krupp Quarter, right to the impressive grounds of the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex – a fitting conclusion to an extraordinary city tour.
