Sundowner Tour – When the Ruhr region glows in the evening light
The Sundowner Tour is a unique experience that transports you into the magical world of the Ruhr region. As the sun sinks below the horizon and the evening light bathes everything in a warm glow, the journey begins aboard a double-decker open-top bus. Along the route, you’ll discover the impressive scenery of the coking plant and the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that bears witness to the industrial history of the Ruhr region.
One of the highlights of the tour is a stop at a typical Ruhr Region kiosk. Here you’ll have time to pick up a little something to eat or simply have a friendly natter with the other participants. It’s these authentic moments that make the region so special.
The climb up to the slag heap on Beckstraße offers you a breathtaking view of the entire Ruhr region. The striking tetrahedron crowning the slag heap is not only an architectural highlight but also provides the perfect setting for watching the sunset. The sight of the setting sun bathing the landscape in golden light will stay with you for a long time to come.
Armed with many new impressions, you’ll then set off on the return journey to our starting point. This tour is a wonderful opportunity not only to see the Ruhr region, but also to experience it – honestly, authentically and unforgettably.
