The XMAS-EXPRESS takes you on a festive journey through the Advent season – by bus, boat and with plenty of festive spirit.
Your winter journey of discovery through Essen begins in a lovingly decorated vintage coach. The starting point is at the Haus der Technik in Essen; from there, the route takes you through the south of Essen, past Margarethenhöhe and Villa Hügel, all the way to Lake Baldeney. Here, you’ll board the festively decorated boat from the Weiße Flotte Baldeney and enjoy the peaceful cruise across the lake whilst sipping a warm hot drink. As the city glides by in the pre-Christmas glow of the lights, a unique blend of tranquillity and local history emerges. Back on the bus, the route takes you on through Werden, Bredeney and Rüttenscheid to the impressive backdrop of the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex – a atmospheric finale to an adventure tour that really brings Christmas to life.
